Fire Fertility & Form. 
This New Moon in Taurus coincides with Beltane (from “Beltaine” meaning “brilliant fire“) which marks the beginning of the light half of the Celtic Year.  Also known as May Day, this is a day to honour Maia, the goddess of growth and increase.  Many cultures at this time celebrate Mother, Fertility and Fire.  Here we join Mother with Earth as Taurus, the cosmic womb, takes center stage.

Taurus is the sign of our earthly life, operating on both the physical and material planes.  As an earth sign it strives to bring form and structure to the physical world and as a fixed sign, it aims to establish a base which can sustain and maintain itself for a long time to come.  As this is a time to look at the Earth, our Mother, it is time to consider if we are acting in harmony with her spirit.  Are we creating things of value with the resources she provides?  Are we birthing in concert with her rhythms?   Are we able to sustain ourselves on the foundation we have created?

Illumination and Transformation
Lunar Eclipses are very powerful Full Moons.  They provide additional strength to illuminate that which lurks in the shadows.  Anything that has been placed in the dark will now come to light.  That which has been concealed will now be revealed.  As Scorpio steps into this light our need for transformation will be greater.  Anything we consider old or decaying will be transformed into a form.  Eclipses provide excellent energy for us to break patterns and to release what we no longer need.  Falling within the polarity of Taurus and Scorpio we are called to look at planting what we need and weeding what we don‘t; hanging on to what is important and letting go of what is not.
